The MATCHWORK™ Standard
We Install Complete Roofing Systems, Not Just Shingles
The shingle is the part you see. A roof that lasts is everything under and around it too. We install the CertainTeed Integrity Roof System (CertainTeed's matched underlayments, starter, shingles, ventilation, and hip and ridge caps) plus the deck work, edge metal, and flashing every roof needs. Your written proposal lists every part.
01. Decking
With the old roof torn off, the whole deck is checked. Soft or rotted boards and delaminated plywood are replaced before anything covers them.
02. Ice & Water Barrier
Self-adhering membrane at the eaves, in the valleys and around chimneys, skylights and pipes, run from the roof edge to at least 24 inches inside the outside wall, where ice dams back water up.
03. Underlayment
Covers the rest of the deck as a second barrier against water beneath the shingles.
04. Drip Edge
Protects the edge of the deck and directs water away from the fascia and into the gutter.
05. Starter Strip
A starter course along the eaves and rakes so the first row of shingles is sealed at the edge, where wind tries to lift it.
06. Shingles
Landmark PRO on most homes, or a designer slate-look or shake-look line, chosen with you to suit the house.
07. Flashing
Step flashing where the roof meets a wall, flashing and counter-flashing at the chimney, and boots at plumbing vents. These joints are where many roof leaks start.
08. Hip & Ridge Caps
Purpose-made cap shingles close off the hips and ridges in colors made to go with the shingles on the roof.
09. Ventilation
Intake at the eaves or soffits and exhaust at or near the ridge, planned as a pair so air moves through the attic, keeping it cooler in summer and drier in winter.
Protecting your landscaping, siding, and driveway during tear-off, and cleaning up afterward, are part of every MATCHWORK™ roof.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you price a roof?
We measure the roof, check the flashing, vents, chimneys and decking, and write a line-item proposal with the shingle line and colors you choose.
How long does a roof replacement take?
It depends on roof size and pitch, how many layers come off, decking repairs and weather. We go over the expected schedule with you when we review your proposal.
What affects the scope and cost of a roof replacement?
Roof size and pitch, the number of existing shingle layers, decking repairs, flashing and chimney work, ventilation changes, and the shingle line you choose. Your written proposal itemizes each of these.
What are the steps in the roof replacement process?
We get on the roof, measure it, and check the flashing, vents, chimneys and decking. You choose the shingle line and color with physical samples held against your brick, stone, siding and trim. Then you get a written proposal with every part and the price, and we build that scope.
What does the written proposal include?
The written proposal lists the materials, components and price before you commit, including the underlayment, flashing, edge metal and ventilation that go on with your shingles. Protecting your landscaping, siding and driveway, and cleaning up afterward, are part of the job.
One Price. Every Part Listed.
Tear-off, decking by the sheet, ice and water barrier, flashing and ventilation are each on the proposal, with the price, before you sign.
