The Presidential Shake Family
Three Versions, One Look
From the street, all three read as hand-split wood shake. The difference is in how the shingle is built. Per CertainTeed, Presidential Shake carries a UL 2218 Class 3 impact rating; TL and IR carry Class 4.

What It Looks Like
Deep Shadow Lines and Cedar Tones
Presidential Shake's tabs are cut and layered to throw the irregular shadow lines of a hand-split shake roof, and the color blends run through weathered browns, grays, and charcoals rather than flat single tones. On a steep roof, where the shingle is most of what you see from the street, it reads as cedar shake.
The profile suits the traditional architecture across Upper Arlington, Bexley, and the older streets of Dublin, and it is a natural fit for the larger custom homes going up around New Albany.
Who It Suits
Large, Visible Roof Planes
Presidential Shake makes sense when the roof plane is large and visible (steep gables, turrets, dormers) and the owner wants the roof to be part of the design, not background. It is also the practical answer for anyone who loves the cedar-shake aesthetic but does not want wood's fire exposure, maintenance cycle, or insurance complications in Central Ohio's storm seasons.

Presidential Shake vs. Presidential Shake TL and IR: what's the difference?
All three share the hand-split wood-shake look. Standard Presidential Shake is a two-piece laminate with a UL 2218 Class 3 impact rating. Presidential Shake TL is a three-piece laminate, and Presidential Shake IR is CertainTeed's impact-resistant version; both carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating.
