What It Looks Like
Sculpted Tabs That Read as Cedar Shake
From the street, Presidential Shake TL reads as a cedar shake roof: staggered, sculpted tabs with rustic edges and deep shadow lines, not the flat repeating pattern of a standard architectural shingle. You get that look without cedar's upkeep: no rot, no splitting, and a UL Class A fire rating that untreated wood shakes do not have.
The third laminate layer is not just cosmetic. More asphalt and more material mean a heavier, more dimensioned shingle that holds its sculpted profile through decades of freeze-thaw cycles and summer heat.
Who It Suits
Homes With Large, Prominent Roof Planes
We see Presidential Shake TL land best on larger homes with prominent roof planes: the steep gables and turrets common in New Albany builds, the traditional two-stories in Upper Arlington, and custom homes around Dublin where the roof is a big part of the elevation. On a small ranch the luxury premium is harder to see; on a big, visible roof it transforms the house.
It also makes sense in hail-exposed pockets of Central Ohio.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating actually mean?
UL 2218 is the national test standard for roof impact resistance. A Class 4 rating, the highest of the four classes, means the shingle withstood a two-inch steel ball dropped from twenty feet, twice in the same spot, without cracking. It is a lab measure of impact toughness, not a promise that hail can never damage a roof, but it is the strongest rating a shingle can carry.
How is Presidential Shake TL different from standard Presidential Shake?
Construction and impact rating. Standard Presidential Shake is a dual-layer laminate with a UL 2218 Class 3 impact rating; Presidential Shake TL adds a third laminate layer, more asphalt, and a Class 4 impact rating, with an even deeper sculpted profile. Both carry the same CertainTeed warranty stack: lifetime limited transferable warranty, 10-year SureStart protection, and a 30-year algae-resistance warranty from CertainTeed.
Who handles the manufacturer coverage on my shingles?
